二氧化碳(CO2)作为空气中的重要组分,也是广泛存在、廉价易得、无毒、稳定、可再生循环使用的“碳一”(C1)资源。由于CO2在热力学和动力学方面有较高的稳定性,反应活性较低,CO2活化具有巨大的挑战。2015年余达刚博士独立建组以来,坚持围绕CO2活化与转化的基本科学问题开展独特研究,发展了CO2高效活化与选择性转化的新理念、新策略和新反应,具体如下:
针对碳氢键氧化羰基化反应中存在的问题(需要使用剧毒的CO和当量的氧化剂),我们首次提出“CO2 = CO + [O]”理念,利用CO2代替CO和氧化剂参与碳氢键羰基化反应,发展了近十类重要含羰基杂环类化合物的高效合成方法,提出了新反应机制,不仅变废为宝,还降低成本,提高安全性,具有较强的实用性;基于过渡金属催化和可见光催化策略,我们发展了“自由基型CO2转化”模式,一方面通过调控自由基参与不饱和烃转化反应的选择性,在室温常压下实现了噁唑啉酮和多种类型羧酸的高效制备,另一方面基于“可见光促进单电子活化”策略和电还原策略,通过单电子还原CO2或底物形成自由基负离子,实现了具有独特区域选择性的烯烃羧基化反应以及氮杂芳烃区域选择性可调控的羧基化反应;基于极性翻转策略,我们通过惰性化学键(如碳氟键、碳氮键和碳氧键)的选择性断裂实现了CO2参与的羧基化反应;此外,我们实现了铜或镍催化CO2参与的不饱和烃的碳碳成键反应,取得了优秀的对映选择性、化学选择性、区域选择性和Z/E选择性,高效构建了具有手性(季碳)中心的高苄醇、高烯丙醇和羧酸。这些工作实现了CO2的变废为宝和高附加值产品的精准合成,为研究CO2活化的本质和规律提供了新的实验基础和理论模型,为促进我国CO2化学研究起了积极的作用。
独立工作以来,余达刚博士以通讯作者身份在Nature、Nature Catal.、Nature Synth.、Acc. Chem. Res.、Chem.、J. Am. Chem. Soc.、Angew. Chem. Int. Ed.、Nature Commun.、Sci. Bull.、Chin. J. Catal.、CCS Chem.、Sci. China Chem.、Chin. Chem. Lett.和Chin. J. Chem.等学术刊物上发表学术论文100余篇,其中有多篇论文成为相应期刊封面、扉页文章、VIP和当月下载量前列的文章,多篇被国家自然科学基金委、科学网、中国网、ChemistryViews、Synform、Synfacts、Organic Chemistry Portal、OPR&D和《有机化学》等作为亮点介绍。此外,在国内外学术会议、大学和企业做了130余次报告作为共同客座编辑组织了Chin. J. Chem.、Green Chem.和Chin. J. Catal.的“二氧化碳化学”专辑。
